Churro French Toast

Churro French Toast

I had seen the advertisements for the new Albany Delight range on social media and I couldn’t wait to taste them. The flavours sounded so decadent and exciting. The range includes the raisin and cinnamon bread, butter and cinnamon and popcorn bread.

I bought a loaf of the raisin and cinnamon as I thought this would be a hot cross bun in bread form…and I love all things cinnamon. Yum!

My first thought was to make french toast with this yummy bread, but with a little twist, to make it even more delicious and decadent. I had made a churro french toast with ordinary bread previously, and I knew it would be tastier with this bread. Basically, it is buttery golden french toast dunked in a cinnamon sugar and coated in a cream cheese drizzle.

If you notice from my blog posts, I don’t enjoy very rich and overly sweet foods, and neither does my family. We enjoy a balanced eating plan, with healthy and not-so-healthy treats, but Balance is key! I love the cream cheese idea on this french toast, as it cuts through the sugary sweetness and makes this treat palatable and enjoyable.

French toast is ideal as a weekend breakfast or an afternoon sweet treat ! Enjoy! Please try this recipe with the other flavours as well, I am sure it would be delicious and tag me in your creations !

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • dash of vanilla essence
  • 2 tblsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tblsp castor sugar

  • 1 tsp icing sugar
  • a little milk

Directions :

Whisk eggs, vanilla and cream. Mix the castor sugar and  cinnamon.

Heat a pan with the butter until medium hot. Dunk the bread into the egg mixture, one at a time, and place into the pan. Allow to brown on both sides until the bread is golden. Dunk each slice into the cinnamon mix until well coated.

Mash together the Kiri, milk and icing sugar until smooth. Place toasts on a serving plate and drizzle over the cheese, maple syrup and top with dark chocolate chips.

Ideal for a lazy breakfast or a sweet afternoon treat.
